Listen Foundation is a
private non-profit agency that has been serving individuals with Autistic
Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other developmental disabilities since 1982.
Our present programs include:
- Two 3-bed group homes
for youth between the ages of 9 and 21 who are diagnosed with autism or
other developmental disabilities with severe behaviors.
- A non-public school
serving students whose needs cannot be adequately addressed in traditional
public education programs.
- Four supported living
homes serving 7 adults with autism and related disabilities.
- An early intervention
preschool program which provides one to one intensive services to preschool
children with ASD in partnership with the Santa Cruz County Office of Education.
- Home based intervention
services to toddlers and preschoolers with autistic spectrum disorders.
- A consultation program
for family members and teachers of students with autism who are either in
regular education classes or special education classes in Santa Cruz County.
Our primary goals are to help our clients learn and grow to their fullest
potential and to help them live satisfying, independent lives.
Our approach is holistic:
it combines the use of behavioral support techniques emphasizing positive
reinforcement, training in independent living skills, mainstreaming activities
and therapeutic recreation activities.
